Human development
The process of expanding people's choices and improving their quality according to the United Nations Development program, involving not only economic growth but also education and healthy well-being.
Concept of development
The processes through which a country advances its capability to adequately meet its citizens' needs.
Teleological
The dictionary meaning of development, referring to a concept of an event that exists because it serves a specific purpose.
Development (as the process)
The attempt leading to growth into higher, fuller, and mature conditions.
Practice of development agencies
According to Thomas (2004), a practice aiming at reducing poverty and achieving the millennium development goals.
1950s and 1960s Vision of Development
A vision of the deliberation of people and peoples, which has since been replaced by a vision of the liberalization of the economists.
Political development
For a political scientist, an increase in political participation, greater progressivism and rationality in the legislative, a more effective judicial system, independent election machinery, and enlightened pressure groups.
Economic development
For an economist, a higher level of economic development combined with a greater concern for economic justice.
