Flagellum
Motility structure in some animal cells, composed of a cluster of microtones within an extension of the plasma membrane
Centrosome
Region where the cell’s microbes are initiated; contains a pair of centrioles
Cytoskeleton
Reinforces the cell shape functions in movement; components made of protein includes : micro filaments, intermediate filaments, and microtubules
Microvilli
Projections that increase the cell’s surface area
Peroxisome
Organelle with various specialized metabolic functions; produces hydrogen peroxide as a by product and then converts it to water
Mitochondrion
Organelle where Delilah respiration occurs and where most ATP is generated
Endoplasmic reticulum
Network of membranous sacs and tubes; active in membrane synthesis and other synthetic and metabolic processes; has rough and smooth regions
Nuclear envelope
Double membrane that covers the nucleus; perforated with pores; continuous with ER
Nucleolus
Nonmetals structure involved in production of ribosomes; one nucleus has one or more nucleoli
Chromatin
Material consisting of DNA and proteins; visible in a dividing cell as individual condensed chromosomes
Plasma membrane
Membrane enclosing the cell
Ribosomes
Complexes that make proteins; free inside of salt or bound to rough ER or nuclear envelope
Golgi apparatus
Organelle, active and synthesis, modification, sorting, and secretion of cell products
Lysosome
Digestive organelle where macromolecules or hydrolyzed
Plasmodesmata
Cytoplasmic channels through cell walls that connect the cytoplasm of adjacent cells
What does cytoskeleton have
Microfilaments and microtubules
Cell wall
Outer layer that maintains cells shape and protect cell from mechanical damage; made of cellulose, other polysaccharides, and proteins
Chloroplast
Photosynthetic organelle; converts energy of sunlight to chemical energy stored in sugar molecules
Central vacuole
Prominent organelle in older plants; functions include storage, breakdown of waste, products, and hydrolysis of macromolecules; enlargement of the Vacula, a major mechanism of plant growth
What does the nucleus contain
Nuclear envelope, nucleolus; and chromatin
