Heliox
A mixture of helium and oxygen used in respiratory therapy.
Nitric Oxide
A gas used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension.
Hyperbaric
Referring to higher than normal atmospheric pressure; used in therapy to improve oxygenation.
Alveolar Air
The air in the alveoli where gas exchange occurs, typically calculated by subtracting water vapor from barometric pressure.
FiO2
Fraction of inspired oxygen; the percentage of oxygen in the air that a patient breathes.
Venti Mask
A device that delivers a precise amount of oxygen, commonly used in respiratory care.
Documented Hypoxemia
A situation where the oxygen saturation is less than 90% or the partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) is less than 60 mmHg.
High Flow Device
A respiratory device that meets or exceeds a patient's inspiratory flow needs.
Oxygen Toxicity
A condition resulting from excessive oxygen exposure, leading to lung damage.
Cor Pulmonale
Right heart failure due to lung disease, causing increased pulmonary arterial pressure.
Oxygen Therapy
The administration of oxygen to treat various medical conditions, often aimed at improving oxygenation.
Compensated Flow Meter
A flow meter that accurately reflects the flow rate, even under varying pressure conditions.
Tidal Volume
The volume of air exchanged during normal breathing.
PSI
Pounds per square inch; a unit of pressure measurement used for gas cylinders.
Seamless Steel Cylinder
A type of gas cylinder made without seams, providing strength and safety under pressure.
Assigned Service Mark
A mark indicating the safety and maintenance requirements of gas cylinders.
