Juxtoposing connotations between Polo, the sport and a headless goat. “polo” has connotations of wealth but on the other hand “headless goat” has connotations of something dangerous, reakless and uncultured. This shows the writer compares things with the western culture. (structure)

Triplet using aural imagery to emphesise chaos and the excitement of the locals. The onomatopoeia shows sudden contrast in sound because the start of the extract conveys silent and boredom , but when the vehicles were approaching there was a sudden increase in noise
