§18-1-707
Colorado statute that sets the lawful limits and circumstances for a peace officer’s use of physical force.
Excessive force
Physical force that exceeds the degree allowed under §18-1-707.
Presumption of excessive force
Occurs when an officer continues to use disallowed force on a person rendered incapable of resisting arrest.
Effective date – June 5, 1991
The date §18-8-803 was enacted into Colorado law by the legislature (L. 91, p. 397, § 1).
