Strength of dual tasks
Baddeley and hitch found that when two tracks requires the participants to use their phonological loop their ability to perform the tasks are impaired
However when one task requires the particpant to use their phonological loop, remembering a series of numbers, and the other requires their Visio-spatial sketch pad, copying a drawing, their ability was not impaired
This provides support to the model and to the e science of multiple components with =in our short term memory.
Support from patient KF
Motorbike accident
Could recall information stored in LTM but has issues with STM
He could remember visual information but unable to remember sounds
This suggests that there are at least two components within the short term memory system, one component for visual(visual-sketch pad) and another for auditory information (phonological loop). Supporting the WMM
Limitation is that it only focuses on short term memory
No information on the sensory register or long term memory so limits application to everyday human memory and is unable to explain how information arrives into our working memory and how it is stored in our LTM
