Hunter-gatherer
An early human who moved from place to place in search of food and depended on nature for all needs.
Nomad
An early human who moved frequently rather than settling in one permanent location.
Pleistocene Period
Also known as the Ice Age, a stage during the Lower Paleolithic Period when most of the Earth's surface was covered with thick sheets of ice.
Microliths
Tools formed from chips like blades, points, borers, and scrapers used during the Mesolithic Period.
Tilwara
The westernmost Mesolithic site in Rajasthan, India, where circular arrangements of stones indicate habitation structures.
Bagor
The largest Mesolithic site of India, located in the Bhilwara district of Eastern Rajasthan near the Kothari River.
Langhnaj
A Mesolithic site situated in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, recognized as the most extensively studied site in Gujarat.
Neolithic Revolution
A foundational shift occurring between 8000 BCE and 4000 BCE from nomadic hunting and gathering to settled agriculture.
Pastoralism
A form of farming in which animals such as camels, goats, cattle, and sheep move in herds in search of fresh pastures and water.
Potter's wheel
A major Neolithic invention that enabled early humans to make pottery of different shapes and sizes easily and more quickly.
