What is somatic nervous system?
it’s voluntary, impulses originate in CNS.
ACH acts on nicotinic 2/ Nm receptors
Skeletal muscle relaxants?
Inhibit skeletal muscle contraction and can be central or peripheral acting
Peripheral skeletal muscle relaxants?
Are depolarizing agents, no antidote
Peripheral skeletal muscle relaxants?
Occupies the nicotinic 2/ Nm receptor sites, ACH cannot bind, no contraction occurs. Can cause fasciculations (pain, hypotension, arrhythmias, jaw rigidity)
peripheral skeletal muscle relaxants?
Blocks Ca++, does not effect the nicotinic 2/Nm receptor or spinal cord conduction. Can be toxic to liver
Centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants?
Decreases number of impulses, block conduction writhing the spinal cord. Can cause blurred vision, fatigue patients need to avoid alcohol and operating a vehicle.
succinylcholine (no antidote)
Is a skeletal muscle relaxant, depolarizing agents
Rocuronium bromide
Is a skeletal muscle relaxant, Non- depolarizing agent
Dantrolene (dantrium)
Skeletal muscle relaxant, Direct Acting
Cyclobenzaprine
