Inductor
A coil or wire used to store energy and create a magnetic field in electrical circuits.
Transformer
An electrical device that changes electric system quantities (like voltage or current) using coils wound around a single magnetic core.
Rectifier
An electrical device made of diodes that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC).
Rectification
The process of converting alternating current into direct current.
Half Wave Rectifier
A rectifier that converts only one half of the AC cycle into DC.
Full Wave Rectifier
A rectifier that converts both halves of the AC cycle into DC.
Bridge Rectifier
A circuit that uses four diodes to convert both halves of the input AC into DC output.
Capacitance
The ability of a capacitor to store electrical energy, measured in farads.
Filter Circuit
A circuit designed to selectively filter one frequency or range of frequencies out of a mix of different frequencies.
Series Inductor Filter
A filter constructed by connecting an inductor in series between the rectifier and the load.
Shunt Capacitor Filter
A filter constructed using a capacitor connected in shunt.
L-C Filter
A filter circuit made from both inductors and capacitors to optimize performance.
Voltage Regulator
A device that ensures a steady, constant voltage supply through all operational conditions.
NPN OR BJT
A type of transistor composed of two layers of N-type semiconductor and one layer of P-type, used for amplification and switching.
Capacitor
A device that stores electrical energy in an electrostatic field, consisting of two metal plates separated by an insulating material.
Turns Ratio
The ratio of the number of turns in the primary winding to the number of turns in the secondary winding in a transformer.
