Give examples of homeostasis
Control of body water content
Body temperature control / regulation
What is the stomata?
Tiny opening on the surface of the leaf (lower epidermis)
for efficient gas exchange
On the lower epidermis to reduce dehydration from sunlight and evaporation
What is metabolism
How your body turns food and drink into energy
What is a catalyst
Substance that increases the speed of a chemical reaction
What is ADH
Antidiuretic Hormone
Regulates the body’s retention of water
Waste products of metabolism
Carbon Dioxide
Oxygen
How are CO2 and Oxygen lost in Gas Exchange
When stomata opens, CO2 diffuses from the atmosphere into the leaf’s internal airspaces.
Diffuses into the mesophyll cells
Excess O2 produced in the chloroplasts diffuses out of the mesophyll cells and to the air spaces, escaping into the atmosphere through the open stomata.
