Energy
The capacity of a chemical or physical change to do work.
Kinetic energy
The energy associated with motion—the motion of atoms, molecules or ions, or the motion of macroscopic objects.
Potential energy
The energy due to an object's position or state.
Chemical energy
Energy stored in chemical bonds.
Conservation of energy
The law that energy cannot be created or destroyed; the total energy of the universe is constant. In this course, applied to chemical reactions.
Examples of potential energy
Examples include a bell held above the floor and energy stored in a stretched/extended spring.
