functionalist view of gender order

gender is neutral. men/women perform the tasks for which they are bio. best suited. sexual division of labor. stable: supportive families

feminist view of gender order:

concerned with gender inequaity and act towards gender equality.

3 types of feminism

• liberal— equal opportunities in all social institutions by law and policy reforms

• radical— patriachry and oldest and universal form of oppressions. eliminate male privilege and sex distinction itself

• socialist— gender inequality if perpetuated by modern capitalism by the gender division of labor, devalues “women’s” work, both paid and unpaid care work.
