hereditary peers hold seats that have been passed down through family ties over the centuries. Life Peers are people appointed to nonhereditary positions as a result of distinguished service to Britain. The Lords have gradually declined over the last four centuries. The House of Lords has been reduced by half. There are 800 members. They can delay the legislation and add amendments to it. They can delete their changes with the majority of votes.

historic document issued in 1215. The document stored laws such as the king always being the leader, and they can't touch any private properties. The church has rights and the king must always give consent. King John only cared about getting richer, (Great charter in Latin) The idea of justice of people having trials and a jury.
