Nutrients we need a large amount of because they contain calories (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins)
What are micronutrients?
Nutrients we need in smaller amounts because they dont contain calories (vitamins and minerals)
What is a calorie?
A unit of energy our body needs in order to do the things it needs to do

What is the function of carbohydrates?
Gives you energy that comes from fruits, veggies, and grains

Provides insulation, padding for the body, and reserves energy supply from fruits and meat

Helps build and repair cells including blood cells. Comes from fish, beans, meats, and fruits

Helps the body use other nutrients and assists the body processes (fruits and meat)
What does organic mean?
Can be broken down or altered by heat, air, or acid
What is the function of minerals?
Helps the body use other nutrients and assists the body processes (absorbed by plants and eaten by animals)
What does inorganic mean?
Cannot be broken down or hold on to their chemical structure

Our bodies are made of 55-65% of water that operates all the vital organs and cells.
