6 approaches every 6 months with 1 hold, tracking and intercepting using nav equipment

Can the approaches be the same one for currency purposes?

Yes

If you miss the 6 month currency period, what happens next?

Next six months require a safety pilot.

If simulated (with foggles), they can be private rated.

If actual, they need to be instrument rated

What happens if you haven’t flown approaches in a year?

You need a CFII to do an IPC (instrument proficiency check) with you
