Define the term isotope.
Isotopes are atoms of an element with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons.
Why do isotopes of the same element have the same chemical properties?
Because they have the same number of electrons and the same electronic configuration.
Why do isotopes of the same element have different physical properties?
Because they have different numbers of neutrons, which gives them different masses and therefore different densities.
Which properties of isotopes are different and why?
Physical properties like mass and density are different due to varying numbers of neutrons.
