Active Site

Substrate specific; where substrate binds on enzyme and undergoes a chemical reaction.

Substrate

Molecule and enzyme acts on; reactant that interacts with enzyme.

Catalysis

Not consumed or used up in the reaction; chemical reaction is sped up by lowering the activation energy.

ATP

Adenosine triphosphate; primary energy carrier.

Coupled Reaction

Pair of chemical reactions where an exergonic process drives an endergonic process.

Coenzyme

Molecule required by a particular enzyme to carry out catalysis of reaction.

NADH

Electron energy carrier; oxidizing agent in catabolic reactions.

Activated Carrier

Energy carrier carrying electron.
