RJ11
Stands for Registered Jack type 11; a six-position connector that commonly uses two conductors (6P2C) and is associated with analog telephones and DSL connections.
6P2C
A designation for a connector with 6 positions and 2 conductors, often used to refer to an RJ11 connector.
RJ45
Stands for Registered Jack type 45; an eight-position connector with eight conductors inside used for ethernet connections.
F-connector
A standard threaded copper connector used with coaxial cable, typically used for cable modem connections and cable television infrastructure.
DOCSIS
Stands for Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification; the specification used for providing data over cable television infrastructure.
BNC
A coaxial connector that uses a push-and-twist locking mechanism; the name stands for Bayonet Neill-Concelman.
Bayonet
The 'B' in BNC, referring to the style of connector that is pushed in and twisted slightly to lock it in place.
Neill-Concelman
The 'NC' in BNC, named after Paul Neill from Bell Labs and Carl Concelman from Amphenol, who were involved in creating the standard.
