Simple Squamous Epithelium
Single layer of flat cells, lines surfaces, facilitates diffusion and filtration. Found in the alveoli of the lungs and the lining of blood vessels


Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
A single layer of cube-shaped cells that function in secretion and absorption, commonly found in kidney tubules and glands

Simple Columnar Epithelium
A single layer of tall, column-shaped cells involved in absorption and secretion, often found in the lining of the digestive tract and uterus (if ciliated).

Stratified Columnar Epithelium
A type of epithelial tissue composed of multiple layers of cells, with the surface layer being columnar. Found in certain ducts and the male urethra

Pseudostratified columnar epithelium with cilia and goblet cells
A type of epithelial tissue that appears to have multiple layers due to varying cell heights but is actually a single layer. Found lining the respiratory tract

Stratified squamous non-kertatinizing epithelium
A type of epithelial tissue consisting of several layers of cells, where the outer layer is made up of flat, scale-like cells. It is found in moist areas such as the mouth, esophagus, and female canal

Stratified Squamous Keratinizing Epithelium
Tough multilayered tissue whose surface cells are dead and filled with waterproof protein keratin. Forms the skin

Transitional epithelium
Changes shape to allow organs to stretch and relax. Found in the urinary tract

Areolar Connective Tissue
Soft, flexible, and widely distributed loose connective tissue. Cushions and binds organs providing a fluid filled matrix

Adipose Tissue
Connective tissue made of fat cells. Holds lipids and triglycerides to release when the body needs fuel, physical cushion and thermal insulator

Reticular Connective Tissue
Specialized type of loose connective tissue characterized by thin branching fibers. Forms internal supporting framework of lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils. Supports developing blood cells in red bone marrow.

Dense Regular Connective Tissue
Fibrous connective tissue with densely packed collagen fibers arranged in parallel bundles. Found in tendons and ligaments.

Dense Irregular Connective Tissue
Thick interwoven collagen fibers provide strength. Found in deep layer of dermis, digestive tract

Elastic Connective Tissue
Dense tissue packed with branching elastin fibers allowing organs to stretch and return to original shape. Found in arteries and alveoli

Hyaline Cartilage
Most common glass like connective tissue. Found in ribs and nose


Elastic Cartilage
Highly flexible, bends easy and returns to original shape. Found in external ear, epiglottis


Fibrocartilage
Strongest cartilege, found in intervertebral discs

Spongy Bone
Interior layer of bone tissue found inside long bones, holds red bone marrow
Compact Bone
Hard dense outer layer of bone tissue, structural support, holds yellow bone marrow


Blood
Fluid connective tissue that circulates through heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries
