Simultaneous Equations
A set of two or more equations, each containing several variables, which are solved together to find the common values that satisfy all of them simultaneously.
Quadratic Equation
A polynomial equation of the second degree, generally expressed in the standard form ax2+bx+c=0, where a, b, and c are constants and a=0.
Standard Form of a Quadratic Equation
The mathematical arrangement represented by the expression ax2+bx+c=0.
Substitution Method
A technique for solving simultaneous equations by expressing one variable in terms of another from one equation and substituting that expression into the other equation.
Elimination Method
A process of solving simultaneous equations by adding or subtracting them to remove one of the variables, making it possible to solve for the remaining variable.
Variable
A symbol, usually a letter, used to represent an unknown numerical value within an algebraic equation or problem.
