Chemical properties
Properties observed during chemical reactions that involve the destruction of a material and the formation of new substances.
Reactivity
A chemical property that indicates how readily a substance undergoes a chemical reaction.
Stability
A chemical property that refers to the tendency of a substance to remain unchanged under specified conditions.
Flammability
A property of a substance to easily ignite and produce flame when exposed to heat and oxygen.
Toxicity
The degree to which a substance can harm living organisms, especially when ingested or absorbed.
Physical change
A change that does not alter the chemical composition of a substance, such as boiling water.
Chemical change
A change that results in the formation of new substances with different chemical properties, such as rusting iron.
Pure substance
Material with a definite composition and consistent physical properties, such as melting or boiling points.
Homogeneous mixture
A mixture that has a uniform composition throughout, also known as a solution.
Heterogeneous mixture
A mixture that consists of different components or phases with varying compositions.
Element
A substance that cannot be broken down further by chemical means, composed of its own type of atoms.
Compound
A substance formed from two or more elements chemically bonded together in fixed proportions.
Phase
A homogeneous part of a system, such as solid and liquid phases in ice water.
