anaphora
Repetition of a word or phrase in the beginning of a sentence or paragraph.
Allusion
A reference to a person, place, event, or literature outside the text.
Antithesis
contrasting two opposite idea to make a greater statement.
Anecdote
a short story. it could be a personal story or story in general about another person who has experience.
Hyperbole/Overstatement
A deliberate exaggeration or over statement.
loaded language
using heavily connoted (Connotation-a word that brings feelings) words and phrases .
Rhetorical Question
A question asked to make a point rather than to get an answer.
Figurative Language
Metaphors, similes, and personification.
Understatement
The presentation of something as being smaller, worse or less than it actually is.
Parallelism
the use of successive verbal constructions in a text that correspond in grammatical structure, sound, meter, meaning, etc.
Repetition
A word or phrase that is repeated.
Asyndeton
Listing things WITHOUT the use of conjunctions.
Polysyndeton
repetion of conjunctions in close succession.
Pronoun
A pronoun represents a particular person, a place, a thing, an animal, or group. It takes the place of a noun ( I, you,he, she, it, they, we).
