Polynomial

Standard Form
Must be written in alphabetical order with the highest exponent first.
Degree
The highest exponent in a polynomial.
Monomial
A polynomial with one term.
Binomial
A polynomial with two terms.
Trinomial
A polynomial with three terms.
Polynomial
A general term for any expression with more than four terms.
Constant
A degree of 0, e.g., 1.
Linear
A degree of 1, e.g., 1x.
Quadratic
A degree of 2, e.g., 1x².
Cubic
A degree of 3, e.g., 1x³.
Quartic
A degree of 4, e.g., 1x⁴.

Combining like terms from different polynomials.
