The PPP is a metabolic pathway parallel to glycolysis, there are two phases

primary results of PPP

mode 1

mode 2

mode 3

mode 4

glycogen is not as reduced as FA are and so not as energy rich
glycogen seres as a buffer:

glycogen metabolism

1) glucose activation to G6P

2) conversion of G6P into G1P

3) glycogenic activation

4) extension of the chain

5) branches insertion

glucoinase is an isoenzyme of hexokinase that is not inhibited by G6P
it phosphorylates glucose only when its abundant
degradation of glycogen
