7 Continents and 5 Oceans Map

A world map illustrating the seven continents (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica) and the five oceans (Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, Arctic Ocean).

Northern Hemisphere

The half of the Earth located north of the Equator, which includes North America, Europe, and Asia.

Southern Hemisphere

The half of the Earth located south of the Equator, which includes Australia and Antarctica.

Western Hemisphere

The half of the Earth situated west of the Prime Meridian, containing North America and South America.

Eastern Hemisphere

The half of the Earth situated east of the Prime Meridian, containing Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

Equator

The horizontal line dividing the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.

Prime Meridian

The vertical line dividing the Earth into the Western Hemisphere and Eastern Hemisphere.

Tropic of Cancer

A parallel line of latitude located in the Northern Hemisphere above the Equator.

Tropic of Capricorn

A parallel line of latitude located in the Southern Hemisphere below the Equator.

Map Scale Formula

The calculation defined as $\frac{\text{Actual distance}}{\text{Map distance}}$, where every scale represents exactly $1\text{ inch}$.
