Primary Consumers/Herbivores
Consumers that eat producers/plants; examples include cows, deer, rabbits, and grasshoppers.
Secondary Consumers/Carnivores
Consumers that mainly eat primary consumers; examples include foxes, snakes, owls, and falcons. Some are omnivores and consume both plants and meat, like chickens, bats, sea otters, and some lizards.
Tertiary Consumers/Top Carnivores
Carnivores capable of eating secondary consumers; many are also omnivores. Examples include lions, wolves, sharks, and humans.
Domain
The broadest level of classification of living things, containing Bacteria, Archea, and Eukarya.
Classification of Living Things
A classification scheme that goes from biggest to smallest, including 7 different levels.
Levels of Classification
The series of classification levels from largest to smallest: Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.
Species
The most specific level of classification.
Bacteria
One of the three domains of life.
Archea
One of the three domains of life.
Eukarya
One of the three domains of life.
