Channel Sampling
the most accepted method of sampling which best suited to bedded, banded, and vein type of deposits, this method consist of cutting channels across the face of exposed ore.
A sampling method involving in the taking at regular intervals spot samples across the underground development works to obtain the average grade of the ore.
recommended for laminated deposits such as coal.
most accurate or results to the smallest possible error.
Chips sampling
obtained by collecting rock particles chipped from a surface either along a line or over an area
Has high productivity
obtaining samples in disseminated ores exposed in outcrops.
Muck Sampling
A grab sample of the muck pile after blasting os sometimes taken instead of a channel sample of a face. It picks pieces of rock of convenient size.
Car sampling
A shovelful ore
Geochemical sampling
Rock chips, sediments, water, mud etc are collected for sampling
Grid sampling
Grid or coordinate system
Bulk sampling
Is done to further determine the mining and metallurgical properties of the deposit
Grab Sampling
usually consists in taking portions of ore at random from muck piles, chutes, or the tops of cars of ore
least accurate
Floats
pieces of rock that are not found in situ at an outcrop
Float sampling
involves collecting rock material suspended in colluvium with no indication of proximity to the bedrock source
Panning
used to identify minerals that have migrated from an area's surface and are extracted from streams using panning technique
Test pitting
a sampling method where small pits are excavated so that shallow, extensive, flat-lying bodies of mineralization can be recorded
Chunk sample
samples that are broken away from the soil without trimming
