Titration
an act of adding and measuring the volume of titrant used in the assay
Analyte
chemical substance being analyzed
Titrant
solution of known concentration
Indicator
a chemical which changes color at every near point in the titration where equivalent quantities of analyte and titratnt was measured
Stoichiometric/Equivalence Point
the theoretical point of which equivalent amount of each have reacted
End point
occurs a sudden change in some property of the reaction mixture
a change which made apparent use of indicators
Direct
Uses 1 known solution
Indirect
uses 2 known solutions
Direct Titration
the reaction between the unkown compound and the compound with the known concentration
Residual Titration
excess amount of a compound with a known concentration
done between two known components
determine the exact end point when there are sharp color changes
Equivalence Point
chemical reaction
between titrant and analyte has reached its equal reaction
End Point
Physical Change (change in color)
