“The Design Argument proves the existence of God”

FOR: God designed the world so that everything was just right for human life to develop(force of big bang)/ Everything in nature seems to act towards a purpose(parts of the human eye)

AGAINST: Evolution by natural selection, things that seem designed have gone through natural processes

Justified conclusion: God created evolution by natural selection

“The First Cause Argument proves the Existence of God”

FOR: Everything is caused by something and there cannot be an infinite regression of causes

AGAINST: Just because things inside the universe have a cause it doesn’t mean the universe as a whole has a cause/ The universe resulted from a spontaneous event( Big Bang)

Justified conclusion: If things exists because they are caused, then what caused God?

“Miracles prove that God exists”

FOR: Miracles defy natural or scientific laws, the miracle must be outside of nature(Jesus walking on water)/ Miracles can cause a conversion of religious faith

AGAINST: God doesn’t grant miracles to everyone(does not save people from dying from medical illness)

Justified conclusion: Muslims believe in predestination and because humans are not omniscient, humans cannot comprehend God’s plan to not grant everyone miracles.

“The existence of evil and suffering proves that God doesn’t exist”

FOR: Suffering is pointless and serves no purpose in this world(William Rowe’s fawn only went through suffering)

AGAINST: Suffering is a result of human disobedience(original sin from Adam and Eve)/Natural disasters occur( St Augustine - natural evil is a result of moral evil, God can control the earth if humans do not follow his instructions)

Justified conclusion: God is omniscient, He knows suffering can become a pathway for humans to grow spiritually.

“Science proves that God doesn’t exist”

FOR: Evolution through natural selection

AGAINST: Science cannot explain things that break natural or scientific laws(Jesus walking on water)/ Beliefs about religious scripture( Fundamentalists believe the Bible is the direct word of God and if science contradicts the Bible, then it is wrong”

Justified conclusion: God designed evolution through natural selection

“Revelations are real and are genuinely from God”

FOR: The revelation of the universe(Bible says that God shows himself to humans through the complexity and order and purpose)/ Revelation can cause a conversion in religious faith(so profound it must be because of divine influence)

AGAINST: Fraudulent revelations(Jimmy and Tammy Faye Bakker), the divine does not correct the fake ‘revelations’

Justified conclusion: Muslims believe in predestination and so God has a plan for not correcting humans when spreading false ‘revelations’
