  • late modernity refers to a stage of modern society characterised by rapid social change , globalisation AND INCREASINF INDIVIDUALISATION

  • giddens argues modernity has nto ended and has just become more dynamic with individuals having a greater agency due to reflexivity

  • beck expands on this with the idea of a ‘risk society’ where technological advancemnts have introduced new global risks such as global warming leading ot environmentalism

  • critics argue thatnot everyone has an equal opportunity to reshape our lives as suggested by relexivity
