A wave in which the movement of the wave’s medium is perpendicular to the movement of the wave traveling through the medium.
Transverse Waves
a wave in which the wave’s medium is compressed in the same direction as the movement of the wave; also called a longitudinal wave.
Compression Waves
energy of movement.
Kinetic energy
a short burst that travels as a wave.
Pulse
a rate of something that repeats over and over.
Frequency
The bouncing back of waves off an object.
Reflection
The distance a wave travels in a given amount of time.
Speed
a back-and-forth pattern of motion that transfers energy.
Wave
The maximum distance a wave vibrates from its rest position.
Amplitude
The length of one wave. For example, from the peak of one crest to the next.
Wavelength
a point where a wave crosses its resting line.
Node
The highpoint of a wave.
