Pure Substance
Matter that contains only one type of particle
Mixture
Contains two or more Pure Substances
Element
A pure substance that Cannot be changed into anything simpler
Compond
Pre substance that consists of two or more elements
Heterogenous Mittre
A mixture that is not uniform in it's composition
Homogenous Mixture
Made of substances that are everly and microscopically mixed together
Physical Properties
Those that you can observe with your senses, measure, or calculate
State
Which matter can be usually found in solid, liquid, or gas
Melting point
The temperature at which the substances changes from a Solid to a liquid
Boiling Point
The temperature at which the Substances Changes from a liquid to a gas rapidly
Malleable
Metal that can be physically Changed in shape
Ductile
Metal that can be "drawn" into the wires
Solubility
A substance that will dissolve in a given amount of another substance (water)
Conductivity
The ability of a material to conduct electricity on heat
Density
The mass per unit Volume of a substance
Chemical property
Describes the behaviour of a substance as it changes into a new Substance
Flammability
The rapid reaction of some Substances with oxygen resulting in the relase of a great deal of energy
Corrosion
The slow reaction of certain metals with oxygen to form metal oxides
Physical Change
May cause a Change in form or state, but not in Substance
Chemical Change
When a substance changes into one or more new Substances W/ different Properties
Kinetic Molecular theory
The idea that matter is made from moving invisible particles
Melting
The change of State from Solid to liquid
Solidification
The Change of State from liquid to solid
Evaporation
The change of state from liquid to gas
Sublimation
The Change of State from Solid to gas
Beposition
The Change of State from gas to solid
