What does CAPTA define as child abuse AND child neglect?
any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker that results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse, or exploitation; or an act or failure to act that presents an imminent risk of serious harm.

How does CAPTA define sexual abuse (for children)?
The employment, use, persuasion, inducement, enticement, or coercion of any child to engage
in, or assist any other person to engage in, any sexually explicit conduct or simulation of such
conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct; or
The rape, and in cases of caretaker or interfamilial relationships, statutory rape, molestation,
prostitution, or other form of sexual exploitation of children, or incest with children
How does CAPTA define physical abuse (for children)?
any nonaccidental physical injury to the child" and can
include striking, kicking, burning, or biting the child, or any action that results in a physical injury
or impairment of the child.
How does CAPTA define the term “near fatality“ as (for children)?
as an act that, as certified by a physician, places the child in serious or critical condition
How is “neglect“ defined as (for children)?
the failure of a parent or other person with responsibility for the child to provide needed food, clothing, shelter, or medical care to the degree that the child's health, safety, and well-being are threatened with harm. In all states a child can be considered neglected when their parent or caregiver fails to provide adequate supervision that is appropriate for a child after considering such factors as the child's age, mental ability, physical condition, the length of the caregiver's absence, and the context of the child's environment
What is sexual exploitation?
it includes allowing the child to engage in prostitution or the production of child pornography

Are child abuse & neglect the same?
Child abuse & neglect share many acts of illegal crimes in the certain jurisdiction & even in the general definitions of these two, however they are not the same.
