Interphase
The period between two cell divisions when the genetic material makes its copy so that it is equally distributed to the daughter cells during mitosis.
G1 phase
The linking period between the completion of mitosis and the beginning of DNA replication (Gap 1 phase) lasting 10.5hrs, during which cell size increases.
S phase
The period of DNA synthesis (Synthesis phase) lasting 10.5hrs, which leads to the duplication of chromosomes.
G2 phase
The time between the end of DNA replication and the beginning of mitosis (Gap 2 phase) lasting 3.5hrs, during which cell organelles divide and prepare chromosomes for mitosis.
M phase
The cell division phase lasting 1hr, which includes prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis.

The division of cytoplasm following karyokinesis, which finally brings about the formation of two daughter cells.
Prophase
The stage of mitosis where chromosomes condense, get coiled, and become visible.
