Carpals
The eight small bones that make up the wrist.
Carpometacarpal joints
The joints between the carpals and metacarpals.
Metacarpophalangeal joints
The joints between the metacarpals and the proximal phalanges.
Proximal interphalangeal joints
The joints between the proximal and middle phalanges.
Distal interphalangeal joints
The joints between the middle and distal phalanges.
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
A muscle that originates at the medial epicondyle of the humerus and flexes the wrist.
Flexor Carpi Radialis
A muscle that also originates at the medial epicondyle of the humerus and flexes the wrist while causing radial deviation.
Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus
A muscle that originates at the lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus and extends the wrist.
Lunate
The most commonly dislocated carpal bone, located in the center of the wrist.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
A condition caused by compression of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel, leading to pain and dysfunction.
