They were open at first but then restricted trade with other countries because they were fearful of Spain taking over the Philippines. They didn’t want to do anything with them

China:

they restricted trade with other countries because they had little to offer they were considered inferior.

Europeans landing on Korean shores were imprisoned or killed it was also known as "Hermit Kingdom"
