-Our nation's self contained, forward-deployed response force
-Constant state of readiness embarked on amphibious assault ships
Special Purpose MAGTF (SPMAGTF)
-Conduct a specific mission that is limited in scope and focus often in duration
-Narrowly focused capabilities to accomplish a limited mission
