Terms

Things in an expression that are separated by addition or subtraction.

Like Terms

Terms with the same variable.

Coefficient

A number being multiplied by a variable.

Equivalent Expressions

Expressions that work the same, but look different.

PEMDAS

Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, and subtraction.

Constant

A fixed number without a variable.

Constant term

A term that is a constant.

Coordinates

A set of values like (x,y) that can be plotted on a grid.

xy plane

A graph a horizontal x-axis and a vertical y-axis.

Denominator

The bottom number of a fraction

Numerator

The top number of a fraction.

Cube root

Difference

Answer to a subtraction problem

Distribution with addition

a (b + c) = a (b) + a(c)

And also (b + c) (a) = b(a) + c(a)

Distribution with subtraction

a (b - c) = a (b) - a(c)

And also (b - c) (a) = b(a) - c(a)

Equivalent

When two equations, fractions, or inequalities are the same.

A pair of numbers (x, y) that shows a point on a graph.

Y-intercept

The point where x=0 and where the line crosses the y-axis.

X-intercept

The point where y=0 and where the line crosses the x-axis.

Point-Slope Form
