Human Nature

• opposed social Darwinism - ‘survival of the fittest’ = inequality is natural

• instead argued like animals live in natural social groups and work on basis of mutual aid = cooperative not competitive - natural state of mankind

Society

• natural communities with people free to join any they wanted - self-sufficient and prosperous

• without scarcity = no competition = no inequality

• ultimate society = ppl freely equally and naturally cooperate with no competition

State

• overthrow violent means if necessary - distorts natural sociability and cooperativeness

• supports mutualism (against Darwin’s theory) = cooperation over competition - humans shd cooperate to succeed

Economy

• inspired by watchmakers - pooled resources + profit

• capitalism distorts natural sociability and cooperativeness

• Communal ownership and goods distributed by need not profit

• decentralised small self-governed/sufficient communities
