Ilium B (2)

topmost half of the Hip B, meets inside the acetabulum, forms a board curved surface that provides an extensive area for the attachment of muscles, tendons and ligaments

Iliac Crest of the Ilium B

the topmost, prominent spine-like ridge of the Ilium B

Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS) of the Ilium B

bony projection on the anterior side of the ilium B , it rests on the shorter end of the ilium

Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine (AIIS) of the Ilium B

longer, bony projection on the anterior surface of the ilium that lies inferior to the ASIS

Posterior Superior Iliac Spine (PSIS) of the Ilium B

bony projection on the posterior surface of the ilium, this is the longer side of the ilium, and this projection is less noticeable.

Posterior Inferior Iliac Spine (PIIS) of the Ilium B

bony projection the posterior surface of the ilium B, lies inferior to the PSIS, the more noticeable projection that points downwards

the spine-like, almost horizontal, projection that demarcates the lower area of the Ilium B

the larger V shaped divot that lies lateral to the Acetabulum

Auricular Surface of the Ilium B

area where the ilium meets the sacrum

Iliac Fossa of the Ilium B

the area between the arcuate line and the iliac crest that forms a shallow depression

the half of the bottom portion of the hip bone that lies up with the posterior spines

Ischial Spine of the Ischium B

posterior to the acetabulum that prominently projects superior to the lesser sciatic notch

Lesser Sciatic Notch of the Ischium B

the smaller, V-shaped (but more rounded) divot

Ischial Tuberosity of the Ischium B

a roughened projection that is located at the posterior and lateral edge of the ischium. this is what bears you body's weight when you sit, aka, "a bony butt"

the other half of the bottom portion of the hip bone

Ramus of ischium B

Superior Ramus of the Pubis B

meets with the inferior pubic ramus and originates near the acetabulum

Inferior Ramus of the Pubis B

extends between the ischial ramus and the pubic tubercle

Pubic Tubercle of the Pubis B

a small elevated area anterior and lateral to the pubic symphysis, lies between the superior and inferior ramuses

Acetabulum

a concave socket that articulates with the rounded head of the femur

Acetabular Notch of the Acetabulum

where the anterior and inferior portion of a ridge of bone forms the lateral and superior margins of the acetabulum, is incomplete, forming this gap

Obturator Foramen

the large hole that is encircled by the pubic and the ischial ramus, This space is closed by a sheet of collagen fibers whose inner and outer surfaces provide a firm base for the attachment of muscles of the hip.
