Equipment Hazards
Workplace risks associated with tools and machinery, which can be reduced by proper operation, following manufacturer instructions, and routine maintenance.
Worker Alertness
The state of being awake, attentive, and vigilant, which directly lowers the likelihood of getting injured on the job.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Specialized clothing and equipment worn by employees to protect against specific workplace hazards.
Proper Lifting Technique
An ergonomic practice requiring proper body mechanics or mechanical aids rather than relying solely on raw physical muscle to lift objects safely.
Horseplay
Rough or boisterous play and practical jokes in the workplace, which pose serious safety hazards, especially near heavy machinery.
Good Housekeeping
The daily practice of keeping work areas clean, orderly, and free of spills or clutter to reduce workplace hazards.
Hazard Reporting
The mandatory action of promptly notifying a supervisor or instructor regarding accidents, defective equipment, or unsafe conditions.
First Aid
Immediate medical attention administered following an injury to prevent serious infection, extended lost work time, or permanent damage.
Shortcuts
Bypassing required safety steps or procedures during a task, identified as a primary cause of severe workplace accidents.
Accident Triangle
A safety model showing that for every major accidental injury, there are corresponding numbers of property damage incidents and hazardous near misses.
Near Miss
A hazardous situation or occurrence where an accident almost happened, but no actual injury or property loss resulted.
Safety Glasses with Side Shields
Mandatory protective eyewear—or goggles fitted over prescription glasses—required at all times in machine shop environments.
Entanglement Hazards
Risks created by loose clothing, untied long hair, or loose jewelry catching in rotating machinery in shops or laboratories.

Solo Work Prohibition

Equipment Shutdown Procedure
