NH4SCN

molecular formula of ammonium thiocyanate

2
New cards

procedure

•Dissolve 8g of reagent grade ammonium thiocyanate in distilled water to make 1000mL in a volumetric flask (direct method)

3
New cards

standardization

•To standardize, place 30.0mL of 0.1N Silver nitrate in a 250ml Erlenmeyer flask. Dilute with 50mL of water.

•Add 2mL of nitric acid and 2mL of ferric ammonium sulfate TS.

•Titrate the ammonium thiocyanate solution until first appearance of red-brown color.

•Calculate the Normality.
