1. located at a less visible place, well screened off from view

2. fully covered and enclosed from the weather

3. well-ventilated but not emitting odours of refuse

5. have hard impervious floors and walls for the bin storage area

6. have electricity, water supply and good drainage that allow daily washing

7. some permanent sites may have refuse compactors to compact the loose refuse for space saving

1. publicity and registration - go paperless, encourage the reuse of consumables, minimise hardcopy of proceedings by posting the presentations or papers for download online

2. event site - provide ample recycling bin within the event site and encourage recycling of waste generated as a result of the event

3. exhibition - specify in the event management contract to use reusable booths and panels as far as possible and to recycle whatever other materials cannot be reuse, exhibitors should be encouraged to avoid excessive packaging for their products

save energy

1. specify the use of energy efficient lights and disallow incandescent lamps such as halogen lights

2. ensure that the air conditioner setting is about 24 degrees or above, and do not overcook the rooms
