- blunt apex
- mesial root concavity (longitudinal groove)

- distal surface flat to slightly concave

Type II bifurcated root
- root trunk with Buccal and Lingual root branch
- root trunk is between the cervical line and the point of furcation or branching

- taper to sharp apices
- buccal root branch is normally larger
