Sporogenesis
The developmental process of mega/micro spores via meiosis.
Gametogenesis
The development of gametes via mitosis.
Homospory
The production of one type of spore that develops into a gametophyte.
Heterospory
The production of two types of spores: microspores and megaspores, leading to male and female gametophytes.
Double Fertilization
A process unique to angiosperms where one sperm fertilizes the egg and the other sperm fuses with two polar nuclei to form endosperm.
Embryo Sac
The female gametophyte in angiosperms which develops within the megasporangium.
Endosperm
A tissue produced after fertilization that provides nutrition to the developing embryo.
Germination
The process by which a seed develops into a new plant, requiring water and favorable environmental conditions.
Self-Fertilization
The process where a plant's own pollen fertilizes its ovules, which can lead to less fit offspring.
Co-evolution
The process by which two or more species influence each other's evolution, seen in flowering plants and their pollinators.
