Where is the regulation of the heart primarily located?
The brainstem.
What part of the brainstem regulates the heart?
The medulla oblongata in the cardiac center.
What does the SA node do when it is stimulated?
It sends an impulse through the intranodal pathways to the AV node.
During atrial systole, what happens to the AV valves?
The AV valves open and allow blood to flow into the ventricles.
What sound is associated with the closure of the AV valves?
The 'lub' sound.
What occurs when the ventricles go into systole?
The AV valves snap shut.
What is the pathway of blood after it flows through the ventricles?
Blood goes out through the aorta, into the great vessels, and into systemic circulation.
What is the condition of the atria during ventricular systole?
The atria are in diastole.
What happens to the pulmonary semilunar valves during ventricular diastole?
The pulmonary semilunar valves shut.
What triggers the heart's conduction system and affects the heartbeat?
Conduction from the SA node, AV node, and the bundle of His.
