This skin condition is common in children, however adults can get infected. It is caused by streptococcal bacterium and is extremely contagious through skin contact, sheets, towels, clothing, toys, and other items. It appears as small red sores and then develops into blisters that break open. Scratching and itching at the sores can cause the infection to spread.
