One of the five steroids manufactured in the body.

Testosterone

A sex steroid mostly made in the Layday cell (interstitial cells).

Layday cell

Also called interstitial cells; the location where testosterone is mostly made.

Estrogen

A steroid mostly made by a particular cell in the ovary.

Progesterone

A steroid mainly secreted by the ovaries that is responsible for pregnancy maintenance.

Aldosterone

A steroid secreted by the adrenal gland that functions to regulate salt and water balance.
