Feature detection
- Information about objects to help comprehend what the object is
- Major features: Color, Form, Motion
Color detection
- Identified through cones in eye (red, green, and blue)
Form detection
- Uses parvo pathway (responsible for figuring out what the shape of an object is)
- Establishes boundaries of object, shape of the features
Parvo Pathway
- Essential for spatial resolution; good at figuring out what boundaries of objects are
- Great spatial resolution, but very poor temporal resolution
- Also enables us to see in color
Motion Detection
- Utilizes magno pathway in brain
Magno Pathway
- Set of specialized cells that allows us to encode motion
- Very high temporal resolution; low spatial resolution
- Does not encode color; only motion
Parallel Processing
- Ability to process color, form, and motion of an object simultaneously
