Electron Affinity
The ability to attract electrons, measured as an energy change.
2

Decreases…
Top-bottom. Right-left
3

Increases
Bottom-top, Left-right.
4
New cards
Why does Electron affinity increase
The less electrons it has, the smaller the atom. This increases the positive charge of the atom and therefore can attract electrons better.
5
New cards
Why does electron affinity decrease
It has more electrons and the outermost electrons are further from the nucleus and their attraction is weaker.
